“Misunderstanding” leads to the killing of Gaza doctors

Nearly a month after 15 Palestinian paramedics and rescue workers were killed by Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip, the military admitted that its soldiers had made major mistakes in the operation.

An ambulance and fire engine carried out by the Palestinian Emergency Services at the Palestinian Emergency Services in Rafah City, a summary of an internal investigation released by the IDF on Sunday found that due to “misunderstanding of the operation”, an ambulance and fire engine was opened.

The report said three armed incidents occurred quickly and quickly in Rafa, south of Rafa that day, one of which involved a rescue team, was the second.

The report said the troops mistakenly “believed that they were facing a tangible threat from the enemy.”

The Israeli military recommended disciplinary action against senior officials involved in reconnaissance battalions. The battalion’s deputy commander oversees the operation on the ground and he will remove him after providing a report of “incomplete and inaccurate” about what happened.

His boss, the brigade commander, will be formally warned.

The deaths of 15 emergency personnel sparked international condemnation. Initially, the Israeli military claimed that the ambulance was not marked and used emergency lights.

However, two weeks after the incident, the Palestinian Red Crescent restored a cell phone that belonged to one of the killed caregivers. The device’s footage showed Israeli troops firing at them at the time, with blue lights flashing with markedly marked ambulances.

The IDF then initiated the investigation.

The military said in its summary of the report that “regrets the harm caused to the civilians that did not involve it.” But it also claimed that six out of 15 people identified as Hamas terrorists in a retrospective examination.
