Pope Francis retains the tradition of visiting prisoners during Holy Week

Pope Francis spent the holy Thursday on Thursday, visiting those times in the Roman prison.

Despite recovering from a game of pneumonia, Francis met with dozens of prisoners at Regina Coeli Coil as he retained his appointment for the Easter season in the unfortunate season.

Vatican News reported that Francis provided words of encouragement and gifted prisoners.

“I have always loved going to jail on Holy Thursday and washing my feet like Jesus,” Pontive said. “This year, I can’t do it, but I want to get close to you. I pray for you and your family.”

Francis’ visit lasted about half an hour.

“Every time I enter a place like this, I ask myself: Why are they not me?” Francis told reporters outside the prison.

The fact that the 88-year-old pope continues to be appointed, and that under the order of a doctor to avoid crowds is a clear indication of his importance to prison ministry and the need for the most priests to serve. This is more realistic in the Holy Year of 2025, both open and special pope activities will be conducted among prison inmates.

Francis is expected to make at least other Easter appearances in the coming days, even if the Cardinal will host his position during the busy Holy Week event.

Francis hopes to wish a happy Holy Week on St. Peter’s Square after the mass presided over by Leonardo Sandri on behalf of Cardinal Leonardo Sandri. This is his first public appearance since the hospital was discharged, where he did not receive oxygen through the small hose under his nose.
