Electronic devices receive temporary U.S. tariff exemption

Before the weekend, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection released a series of products that did not include Trump’s tariffs, including smartphones, PCs, memory chips, and said 80% of everything we wrote on Engadget.

However, this is more because they will be isolated as specific product categories. “These products will be part of the upcoming semiconductor sector tariffs,” Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said in an interview on Sunday.

The new exclusion measures will exempt many equipment and parts from global tariffs and China’s steeper tariffs. Lutnick told ABC News Jonathan Karl that the president “just make sure everyone knows that all of these products are not outside of reciprocity tariffs and that they will have their own independent approach.”

He added that the semiconductor tariffs were “about a month or two later.” Maybe reevaluate Switch 2 reservations.
