Since the current war in Gaza began in 2023, Yemen-Iran-backed Houthi movement has launched missiles and drones in Israel, saying it was to support the Palestinians.

Huthis suspended the attack during a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas that began in January. Israel broke the ceasefire in March and resumed its campaign in Gaza.

According to health officials in the Hamas-ruled enclave, Israel’s retaliatory attacks killed more than 50,000 Palestinians in Gaza.

Hamas still holds 59 hostages, while 192 other people were released during the ceasefire or rescued by Israeli forces.
