He finished about 87 laps and went into the pit stall, and when he entered the box, his car slipped. His four crew members tried to avoid sliding cars but failed. A crew member was taken to a stretcher.
“Honestly, I felt very strange when I was slow in pit lanes. I locked two front tires, which is not usually the case,” Shwartzman said. “I’m not sure if the brakes were brakes or because the tires were cold. I tried to be very slow. But once I touched the brakes, my entire front was lost and I got into these guys.
“It’s really scary because I’m just a passenger at the moment when I’m braked.”

The crash was enough to end his day.
The Prema racing driver has been the first rookie to take the pole position since 1983.
“It’s really sad because we’re doing so well in qualifying,” he said. “But it’s the Indy 500. Anything can happen. A lot of powerful drivers are quitting the race or behind. It’s the Indy 500. That’s happening.”
