The body found in Oxnard is believed to be missing 13 years old

Authorities said law enforcement officers found a body in Oxnard that matched the description of a 13-year-old boy who failed to return to the San Fernando Valley after visiting an acquaintance in Lancaster.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Oscar Omar Hernandez was reportedly missing by his family on Sunday. LAPD homicide detectives took the lead in Tuesday’s investigation and found information that led them to the area of interest in Oxnard City.
Police said LAPD led the area to search the area with FBI members and found a body that matched the description of the missing teenager. Police said the body was found in areas near McGrath Beach and on North Harbor Avenue and West Gonzalez Road near the Santa Clara River.
Police said the identity of the body has not been formally confirmed and the cause of death remains to be determined.
LAPD Deputy Director Alan Hamilton said the missing boy is believed to be from the Foothills department of LAPD. The division serves the San Fernando Valley communities in Tuna Canyon, Lake View Terrace, Pasima, Shadow Mountain, Sun Valley, Senlan and Tuunga.
LAPD detectives are continuing to investigate the cause of death and attempt to identify anyone who may be involved in or possess information related to this investigation.
