Hungary announces ICC evacuation as Netanyahu visit

Hungary said on Thursday it would withdraw from the International Criminal Court, only after Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced its ruling, which is still there despite facing an international arrest warrant.
Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s government made it clear that it would ignore its obligations as a party in the ICC warrant to establish a court treaty in 1998.
Instead of arresting Mr. Netanyahu in Budapest in the early hours of Thursday, Hungary launched a red carpet to welcome the Israeli leaders of Buda Castle and overlook the Danube with a band of military honors.
Mr Orban’s chief of staff Gergely Gulyas said in a Facebook message that Hungary would begin withdrawing the procedure on Thursday “under the constitutional and international law framework.”
The International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant in November against Mr. Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, accusing them of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip.
