Hori’s Piranha Plant Switch 2 Camera is a work of art
Yesterday, we learned a lot about the Switch 2 we didn’t know before, including the fact that Nintendo will provide a webcam next to the new console. As far as accessories go, the $50 Switch 2 camera looks boring, and judging from the footage the company shared on Wednesday, you know the purpose of capturing dynamic pictures is not particularly good.
Good news? Nintendo allows third-party manufacturers to make their own webcams for the new console. Enter the Hori Piranha Plant Camera.
The Hori’s Switch 2 camera has several features you won’t find in Nintendo’s first-party products. First, the Piranha factory pot serves as both a stand and a USB extension to the device. A portion of Piranha containing the webcam can be removed from the pan, allowing you to plant it directly on the top of the switch 2. This way, you can bring your new partner on the way. Want to chat your friends in Gamechat on domestic flights by chatting with your friends in GameChat? With Piranha plants and on-board Wi-Fi you can.
Second, the Piranha plant camera has built-in privacy shutters. You can simply shut your mouth to cover up the lens. If that’s not a smart, functional design, I don’t know what it is.
Hori hasn’t listed Piranha Plant cameras on its U.S. website, but in Germany, retailer Markt’s accessories priced at €40 or €20 less than Nintendo’s official Switch 2 camera. Practical, fashionable and affordable, what don’t love?
