This is the Switch 2 game I’m excited to play

I saw the official disclosure of the Switch 2 on Wednesday. Nintendo announced that its next console will be released on June 5, starting at $450. In the hour-long Nintendo Direct, there are a lot of games displayed and I can say with certainty that I’m excited.
Switch 2 looks to be supported by third-party developers with Nintendo’s spectacular first-party games. This means the new switch will look good at starting the lineup, but there will be more games that must be purchased shortly thereafter.
These are some of the games I’ve been most excited about.
Fool
Arguably, the biggest surprise of Wednesday’s show was popular developer Fromsoftware’s Duskbloods. The studio behind Dark Souls and Elden Ring is making exclusive games for the Switch 2, and it looks a lot like its last exclusive game, Bloodborne. There are still many questions about it, but it can easily become the most anticipated game of 2026.
Hollow Knight: Silk
Hollow Knight of the developer team Cherry received a lofty and warm welcome when it was released in 2017. In 2019, the developer revealed that it was making a sequel called Hollow Knight: Silksong, which will focus on Hornet, a rival to rivals that became the hero of the first game. It only showed a few seconds in the stream, but the clip was excited because it confirmed the game’s presence in the developer’s silence.
Mario Karting World
If there is a series that must be purchased on any Nintendo console, it is Mario Kart. With the help of the new game, Mario Kart World, Kart Racing Games has become an open world style that allows players to travel anywhere. It looks so fun and I’m hoping to buy the $500 Switch 2 Mario Kart World Bundle when the console launches. (The game will be an intoxicating $80.)
Donkey Banana
One of the franchises that Nintendo seems to have forgotten is the Donkey, so I’m glad to see it back in Switch 2. WonkeyKong Bananza is a new 3D platformer that features Nintendo Mastot, which looks like a new way to bag-in-the-blue. Nintendo does offer a July 17 release date for Donkey Kong’s new game, and I can’t wait.
Elden Ring: A bleak version
In Switch 2 Direct, FromSoftware has dual games in Direct. This is a port for Elden Ring, but the sloppy version includes the original game as well as the shadows of DLC, Erdtree.
Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition
Cyberpunk 2077 is an amazing game that can be used on handheld consoles. It took multiple patches to get it running smoothly on the Steam deck, but if it could run directly in the box on Switch 2, it would be a game to pick up.
project 007
This is another surprise that Nintendo directly streamed. IO Interactive is developing a new James Bond game, but there is nothing else but revealing the work title. Still, with a studio like IO Interactive (known for killer games), it’s easy to get excited about another Bond game.
Here are some other games that were shown on Wednesday and I’m excited about:
- Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 (Nintendo Switch 2 Edition)
- Split novel
- Street Fighter 6
- “The Legend of Zelda: Breathing in the Wild” (Nintendo Switch 2 Edition)
- “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom” (Nintendo Switch 2 Edition)
- Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut
- Shadow Maze (Nintendo Switch 2 Edition)
- Nobunaga’s Ambition: Awakening Full Version
- Tony Hawk’s Professional Skater 3 + 4
- Hyrule Warriors: age for incarceration
- Marvel Universe Invasion
- Pokemon Legends: ZA (Nintendo Switch 2 Edition)
- Border 4
- Kirby Aviation Rider
- Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (Nintendo Switch 2 Edition)
The Switch 2 will be launched on June 5 and will be available at retailers starting April 9. To prevent skimmers from buying most of the Switch 2 stocks, Nintendo has fulfilled some crafty demands for those who want to buy the Switch 2 at the launch.
