Inyo’s silver fire, charred 1,250 acres in Sanxian, containing 0%

Silver Fire in Inyo and Mono County continued to burn Monday morning, burning 1,250 acres and evacuated.

According to the California Forestry and Fire Department, the vegetation-burning fire was first held on Silver Canyon Road north of Bishop at 2:11 p.m. Sunday.

California Fire BDU said in a post on X that the fire subsequently jumped onto the highway and was threatening “multiple structures.” Highway 6 heads north and southbound from five Bridges Roads to Benton’s Interstate 120 eastbound.

According to Cal Fire, the legal community in Inyo County, Chalfant and White Mountain Estates communities in Mono County are valid. As of Monday morning, the fire still contained 0%.

This ancient lecone forest is home to the world’s oldest trees, located in the White Mountains east of the fire, but cannot immediately reach Cal Fire representatives to comment on the potential threat to the Pines.

Carl Fire said the fires intensified overnight due to the terrain and strong winds. At Bishop’s Airport, wind gusts of wind are up to 35 miles per hour. The National Weather Service issued a high wind warning at 9 p.m. Monday. Southwest winds range from 25 to 35 mph, with gusts expected to reach 65 mph.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officials have established an evacuation center at the Benton Community Center on Highway 120 in Benton.
