India expanded its solace efforts to help its neighbor Myanmar after a devastating earthquake on Friday.
Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar wrote on Sunday on XX that four Indian naval ships carried 70 tons of relief and medical supplies to Yangon on the southeast coast of Myanmar.
Jaishankar said a mobile army hospital will also be airlifted to the center of the earthquake in Mandalay City – accompanied by a team of 118 people.
An Indian Air Force aircraft carrying 15 tons of relief supplies has landed in Yangon on Saturday. India also participated in Myanmar’s search and rescue work with recovery experts.
The situation in Southeast Asian countries remains unclear after Friday’s earthquake, which has also caused damage in Thailand.
Myanmar State Television recently reported that about 1,700 people were killed, 3,400 were injured and 300 were still missing in the disaster. The ruling military government expects the number of victims to increase further.
