As someone who paid in full for the Sony WH-1000XM5 headset, I report with great jealousy that they have become the new all-time low for Amazon’s spring sale. Yes, our choice of the best wireless headphones of 2025 has dropped from $400 to $250, with a 38% discount. The sale is available on black, silver and smoky pink models, while the Midnight Blue option is $328.
There are very few technical products I would recommend to anyone, but Sony’s M5 headphones are one of them. I praised them so much that my parents and brothers bought a pair (and my partner used mine as often as I did). One of the biggest things for me is because someone who is prone to headaches, they are so comfortable. I’ve worn them on quite a few overnight flights now and can easily keep them all the time.

Speaking of flights, aggressive noise cancellation is another reason for those enjoying overnight tows. The M5s are twice as good as the processor and microphones of ANC as its predecessor. I used to sleep in two rows of two crying babies, and I didn’t hear anything musically. Plus, the 30 hours of battery life means I don’t have to worry about half of their deaths during travel (my Airpods always need to be charged before I arrive).
Their excellence on flights isn’t the only reason we gave Sony’s M5 headset 95 in the comments. They are also great for listening to music while working or walking. The M5s have a 30mm carbon fiber driver and are in extreme state, which improves the quality and depth of sound. My only complaint is that the M5 won’t fold, but especially at this price they’re still so good.
