HONG KONG (Reuters) – Alibaba Group Chairman Joe Tsai said on Tuesday there were clear signs that Chinese business entrepreneurs were more confident that his company would re-hire after meeting with President Xi Jinping.

“I think since January, business entrepreneurs have become more confident since January, and since Xi met with private businesses, we have become more confident in clear signs,” Tsai told HSBC’s global investment summit in Hong Kong.

“It’s a very, very clear signal for the business community, it keeps moving forward, reinvests your business and then goes out and hires people.”

He added: “So, I think we’ve reached the lowest point and we’re going to start restarting and re-hiring, so once you hire people, you can provide job security for people.”
