Two women were killed, baby injured in a wrong road DUI crash in Pomona
The California Highway Patrol said two women were killed and a 1-year-old was hospitalized after a car was driven by a driver allegedly hit by a driver of two vehicles on Highway 60.
The Centre for Health Protection received a wrong report indicating that it was heading east on the westbound lane of the Pomona Expressway near Highway 71 at about 11 p.m. Saturday.
Rick Rodriguez, 24, was arrested on suspicion of being affected by alcohol or drugs and was hospitalized for serious injuries, the Centers for Health Protection said.
The wrong vehicle was the 2013 Honda Agreement, which collided head-on with the 2018 Honda Civic. The protocol got out of control and hit another car, the 2019 Toyota Highlander.
Two women among the citizens – a 29-year-old driver and her 39-year-old passenger, both from Huntington Park – were pronounced dead at the scene. The 1-year-old was also injured in a mind-like body and was taken to Orange County Children’s Hospital, the Centers for Health Protection said.
The driver of Veronica Segura, a 47-year-old business driver, was slightly injured at Pomona Valley Hospital.
A spokesman for the Center for Health Protection said a West Barrett was issued at 60 Westbound east of Lamona Avenue and Gary Avenue, with carpooling lanes and two other lanes being closed. The driveway reopened at 4 a.m. Sunday.
