It’s time to celebrate, sever the fans: Apple has renewed an incredible workplace thriller for its third season. The series starred Adam Scott and writer and writer Dan Erickson, director and executive producer Ben Stiller. The decision to update was an unwise one: the cultural phenomenon broke the record in its second season, becoming the most popular series for the Ribbons.
Severance follows employee Mark Scout (played by Scott), who leads a team of Lumon Industries. Company workers must take controversial procedures to cut off their brains so that memories from their work and personal lives remain inseparable. As the experiment still exists under the well-known microscope, Mark and his team find themselves struggling to cope with an identity crisis, a central mystery that unfolds around them.
“Performing a severance has always been one of the most creative experiences I have been involved in,” Stiller said in a statement. “While I have no memory of this, I was told to make Season 3 equally enjoyable, although any memories of these future events will be forever eliminated in my memory.”
“I’m so happy to be working with Ben, Dan, the incredible cast, Apple and the entire severance team,” Scott added. “Oh hey – it’s no big deal – but don’t mention anything to him if you see my Innie. Thanks.”
The cast that finished the show was Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Zach Cherry, Jen Tullock, Michael Chernus, Dichen Lachman, Emmy Award winner John Turturro, Academy Award winner Christopher Walken and Emmy Award winner Patricia Arquette.
News of the renewal follows the heels of Cold Port, the finale of Season 2, which debuted on Thursday. Now that Severance Season 3 is starting, you have to doubt how long we will wait until these new episodes are down. There is a three-year wait time between seasons 1 and 2. Stiller said in Travis Kelce’s new height podcast that fans “absolutely won’t” wait that long again.
That said, we still have to wait – which makes this the best time to re-watch the show from the start. Severance marathon, is anyone? The first two seasons are streaming TV Plus in full swing.
