Israeli troops destroy former hospitals in Gaza

Israeli troops said it had destroyed a former hospital in the Gaza Strip.

Armed Forces spokesman Hamas cadres used the Turkish-Palestine Friendship Hospital in Nisarim, told Israeli media on Friday.

The Israelis said Hamas had transformed it into a “terror infrastructure.” The spokesman added that the military attacked a group of Hamas members from the building from the air.

But videos circulating on the internet suggest hospitals are more likely to be destroyed by controlled explosions, according to a report in the Times of Israel.

The hospital was built and funded by the Turkish state organization. It is located on the Netzarim corridor, which is part of the land that divides the Gaza Strip into the middle.

The Israeli army has recaptured the area in the past few days after it withdrew from the now collapsed ceasefire.

The hospital itself has been in operation for more than a year. During the conflict, the Israeli military used the buildings as bases at different times.
