Santa Ana police arrested a 48-year-old woman who believed she stabbed her pubertal son in a local motel Wednesday morning.
The mother was detained in La Quinta Inn shortly after calling the police at 9:25 a.m. to report that she killed her son.
The unreleased woman was initially detained in a corridor outside the room she and her son left behind, according to police.
However, the mother told police that she had consumed a lot of unknown substances. Instead, she was taken to a local hospital where she was still in a stable state.
The 11-year-old boy was pronounced dead. Garcia said police recovered the knife at the scene.
Garcia said police believed the incident was “an isolated incident” and no other suspects were involved.
As of 2 p.m., they were still blocked by police while searching the room.
