Highway forced to close after blizzard

Part of 29 (I-29) closed Wednesday, March 19 after a blizzard pulled down the power line near the Neil Port exit on the south side of Sioux City, Iowa.

The footage released by the Woodbury County Sheriff’s Office on Facebook shows traffic inventory as first responders work to repair the fallen power lines.

The Iowa Department of Transportation confirmed in a CDT update that it has reopened I-29 from Sergeant Bluff to the Missouri Valley.

“The roads are closed in mid-morning due to extremely dangerous driving conditions and reduced power lines,” it said. “The intersection at the Port of Neil exit 135 will remain closed overnight until crew members can clear the nearby down line.”
