The annual fee for attending Harvard, including tuition and housing, is nearly $83,000 for the academic year. Harvard said that students from families earning less than $100,000 pay little or no fees, except for providing free tuition to students with a family income of up to $200,000.

For these students, Harvard will cover tuition, fees, food, housing, travel expenses between campus and family, activity fees and activities, and health insurance (if required). The university will also pay for “winter gear” to help students prepare for the tough winter season and $2,000 “startup” grants on Harvard University’s campus in Massachusetts.

Harvard University’s announcement said that in addition to tuition fees, students from families up to $200,000 may be eligible for additional financial aid, depending on their circumstances. Harvard University said it spent $275 million on financial aid this year, but it did not estimate how much its new plan would cost. The school said more than half of Harvard undergraduates received financial assistance.
