Trump and Kathy Hochul have ‘productive meeting’ amid tensions

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul’s office said she and President Trump held a “productive” meeting at the White House on Friday, while discussing several topics such as tariffs and energy.

Her office spokesperson shared her office spokesperson with Fox News Digital.

“Although no formal agreement or decision was reached, this is an effective conversation and we look forward to continuing the conversation in the coming weeks.”

The White House also confirmed the meeting of Fox News’ digital numbers, but said there were no records and no readings.

“Kathy Hochul, a very good woman; she will come to meet me tomorrow at 9 a.m.,” Trump told reporters Thursday.

He added that they will discuss revival gas pipelines from Pennsylvania to New York, among other topics.

They encountered tensions in the middle of the two. The Trump administration has ordered the end of congestion pricing next Friday.

In February, Trump posted from White House X account: “The price of traffic jams is dead. Manhattan and the entire New York City in New York have been saved. Long live the king!”

“I’m here to say that New York has never worked under the rule of the king for more than 250 years. We certainly won’t start now,” Hochul said in a press conference.

“We know there is a huge disconnect between the reality that New Yorkers face and the White House’s perception of reality,” she added at a New York Department of Transportation this week. “I promise the president never had to endure missing children’s sporting events because he was trapped on a delayed train.”

Earlier this month, the Democratic governor said she would “lead the resistance to Trump.”

Hawkel said she will “try to fight back” in an interview with NPR on Monday, when asked about the loss of congestion pricing in New York City, which the Trump administration moved the lockdown last month.

“We provided an olive tree. [We said] “We will work with you on infrastructure. Let’s re-do the Pennsylvania Station'” But once you draw blood from us, we’ll work hard to come back. I’ll lead the boycott of policies that you directly hurt New Yorkers. It’s our decision, not yours.”

Two weeks before that, however, Hawkel said she did not intend to lead the resistance.
