San Bernardino Sup. Joe Baca

The former San Bernardino County Supervisor, Joe Baca Jr.

Sonja Pang filed a government tort lawsuit against the county last week for her recent firing and the abuse she suffered while working under BACA.

Pang claimed in her claim that Baca was a bullying boss, she called one staff member “Pubehead” and said another staff member needed to quit work because she was aging, always sick and instead of doing a “S”, it fueled his budget. Pang also claimed that Baka stared at her breasts, made sexual comments to his employees and publicly said he prefers female job seekers who are physically attractive.

In a statement to the Times on Friday, Baka said that none of Pang’s allegations had “the core of truth” and he was disappointed that someone would “create such a total false accusation.”

“Many people work for me in the California Legislature and county supervisors, and I have always treated every one of my employees with the utmost respect and appreciate the work they have done for me and the public we serve,” he said. “I have long been a champion of women’s progress and have been fair to all workers, always starting with my own staff.”

A county spokesman said they were unable to comment on pending lawsuits.

According to her attorney, Joe Richardson of McCune Law Group, the tort claim is a necessary pioneer in litigation against Baka and the county, and Ponzi intends to do it soon.

Pang worked for Baca from taking office in 2020 until he was dismissed on February 21. When she was fired, she said she was his district director/acting chief of staff.

She claimed Baca had conducted a retaliatory workplace and told her: “If anyone reports any complaints to him to the HR department, they will be removed.” She said she knew at least two other employees who were allegedly forced to resign or terminate because of their speech.

“A lot of the time, Baka will abuse orders and threaten her with her job if she doesn’t comply with her job.” “He will yell and curse her, and if she doesn’t do what he asks, he will threaten to ‘make a big change’.”

She further claimed she “paid a huge salary” compared to her two male exes and staff with similar responsibilities in other county offices.

She claimed that when she asked Baca for a raise, she said he had promised her and he said something. [her] According to this statement, the position is “young, more beautiful, without children.”

Pang also accused Baca of overworking and asked them to assist his campaign, which was not allowed.

She also claimed that he undermined her efforts to hire in another office in the county, accusing managers who had previously been willing to turn away from her after she was fired.

She claimed BACA “affected the change and effectively freeze her from future jobs in the county.”

Baca was a former high school teacher who served in the state legislature from 2004 to 2006, before resigning without success in the state Senate. He continued to serve on the Rialto City Council before being elected to the Supervisory Board.
