Video shows drug-smuggling cats arrested by prison guards in Costa Rica

Costa Rica’s guards intercepted an unusual prison drug use and caught a cat because it leaped over the perimeter fence with marijuana at night and cracked the cat.

The Justice Department said in a statement last week that black and white cats carried two packages of 230 grams of marijuana and 67 grams of cocaine this month and were arrested in a prison in Guangzhou, Posic.

The ministry shared a video of a guard climbing up the perimeter fence to capture the cat.

Later, a feline was seen on the prison table, and the defender carefully cut the package out of its tiny body and removes drugs from its fur.

“Due to the rapid action of the (guard), the felines were captured and the package was removed, thus preventing them from reaching,” the ministry said.

According to the BBC, prison officials handed the cat over to the National Agency for Animal Health for evaluation.

Some social media commentators made fun of this incident. “How many years will that cat be in jail?” one person commented.

Others expressed anger and sympathy for the cat.

“How cruel.” “Poor kitten.”
