New Google features drops include spam text alerts, pulse loss detection

Google’s new batch of Android features announced on Tuesday include scam detection about its messaging app, as well as pulse loss detection for Pixel Watch 3 owners, which will automatically call emergency services.
The scam detection feature will use the device’s AI to analyze conversations in suspicious modes and prompts that will be displayed on the screen when the feature thinks you’re having a conversation with a scammer. The prompt will also provide access to delete messages or reports and block senders. By default, this feature is turned on, and Google states that all AI processing on the device remains on the device. This function can be turned off at any time.

This feature arrives with a similar scam detection feature in the Google phone app, which was first announced on Google I/O 2024 and will issue a prompt when it detects a call you might have a suspicious scammer.
New losses in pulse detection on the Pixel Watch 3 are rolling out in the U.S. after receiving permission from the Food and Drug Administration last week. Google says the feature will arrive at the watch at the end of March and will be activated in events that cause pulses such as cardiac arrest or circulatory failure. This feature is available in 14 countries, including the EU.
Google’s announcement was released at the 2025 World Congress Mobile Conference, during which the company also showed off new Gemini AI features, where assistants can answer questions based on what the camera sees or through a screen check.
