EU’s “concern” about Israel’s plan to take over Gaza
The EU said on Monday that Israel’s security cabinet plans to take over the Gaza Strip plan and the Army controls the territory for unspecified time.
An EU spokesman said in Brussels: “The EU is concerned about the expansion of these actions in Gaza, which will lead to further casualties and additional pain to the Palestinian population.”
He added: “The EU urges Israel to back down,” reiterating the group’s position, “negotiation is the only way to go, the only way for hostages to return and stop all hostilities.”
The EU also urged Israel to lift its blockade on Gaza and allow “immediate access to the distribution of humanitarian aid, as well as the restoration of electricity to Gaza’s recovery and key services”.
“The Palestinian population has suffered enough in recent years, and it’s time to end violence and suffering.”
