In a statement issued on Saturday, the gathering, supported by a plan, was proposed by Egypt by Gaza and Arab countries, including Saudi Arabia and Jordan, aimed at countering Mr. Trump’s phone call. The Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) group has a majority of the Muslim population in 57 countries.
The ministers did not specifically mention Mr. Trump, who rejected “a plan designed to replace the Palestinian people alone or collectively… as ethnic cleansing, serious violations of international law and crimes against humanity.” They also condemned the “hunger policy”, which they said were intended to push the Palestinians to leave.
The OIC also restores Syria to a group member.
