President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he and Secretary of State Marco Rubio received a “weak” treaty between Rwanda and Congo as Pakistan formally nominated him for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.
“I am pleased to report that I, together with Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, arranged a wonderful treaty between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of Rwanda, known in their wars for violent bloodshed and death, even more so than most other wars, and has continued for decades,” Trump wrote in the Truth Society announcement.
The president noted that representatives of Rwanda and Congo will sign documents in Washington on Monday.

Rubio says
He went on to discuss his chances of winning the Nobel Peace Prize, claiming that he would not get “no matter what I do.”

After praising the ceasefire deal, Trump vowed to increase trade with India: “Good done!”

According to the Nobel Prize website, to be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, a person must be a “qualified nominee” that includes the national government, head of state, previous winners and members of a specific international organization.
The nomination process is confidential and the entry will expire on January 31, so it is nominated in 2026.
