Met Gala 2025: Everything you know from themes, co-hosts, guests, etc.

The biggest nights of fashion are almost here. The 2025 Metropolitan Festival will be held on the first Monday in May to celebrate the spring exhibition held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art this year. Since its debut in 1948, the annual event has brought us countless memorable stylistic moments, and the 2025 iteration will surely continue to play the tradition of statement style.
Met Gala, also known as the School of Clothing, was launched in 1948 by fashion PR Eleanor Lambert as a fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Academy. It started out as an invitation only for midnight dinners, filled with members of the New York Association, who cost $50 each. In the 1970s, the grand occasions we know now began to evolve into splash events. It was moved to the current location of MET, with the celebration themes and dress codes aligned with the corresponding exhibitions of Met’s Costume Academy. Fashion Editor-in-chief Anna Wintour became president in 1995, and under her tenure, Met Gala further transformed into today’s multi-million dollar moment. Wintour has chaired and overseen the event for the past two decades, from hosting the welfare committee to planning invitation lists.
The 2025 Metropolitan Gala is “Super Elf: Cut Black Style”, and as always, the guest roster is expected to include A-listers from every industry, from actors and musicians to sports stars and fashion tycoons. As we wait for the fashion event of the year, here’s everything you need to know about the Metropolitan 2025 event.
