Republican lawmakers urge Trump to keep Ukraine’s mineral transactions on the table

House Republicans say President Donald Trump should keep the proposed minerals with Ukraine at the dinner table, despite a showdown with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday.
“I hope Zelenskyy will humbly return to the president and thank the president for his willingness to participate in these business interests,” Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, told Fox News Digital Tuested.
He added that it would be a “very good” way to signal Ukraine to Russia that the United States is on this side.
“I want us to go that path,” Roy said of the proposed deal.

Trump and Vice President JD Vance held a meeting with Zelenskyy at the White House on Friday after their public efforts to end the Ukrainian-Russian war.
A deal will allow the United States to acquire key minerals in Ukraine in exchange for fiscal support from the U.S. to Ukraine since 2022, with future investments in the country unsigned, and Trump asked Zelenskyy to leave early.
Rep. Burgess Owens (R-Utah) said the deal should be considered “absolutely”. He noted that the U.S. presence in Ukraine would prevent “the threat of attacks three years ago. So it’s a win-win.”

Rep. Ralph Norman, RS.C. The Republican colleague who agreed to him should not cancel the deal.
“Donald Trump did the right thing,” he said. “Everything Zelenskyy did to disrespect the president. Watch how he interrupted the president. Watch how he challenged the vice president. It’s unheard of.”
