Before Trump’s speech to Congress, recalling his address in 2017 and asking “What will America be like” 250
A reexamined his 2017 Congressional speech ahead of Tuesday night’s speech by Donald Trump, both the obvious similarity and the current political climate, and a prophetic question about what the United States will become on its 250th birthday in 2026.
In Trump’s 2017 speech, Vice President Mike Pence, who was behind him, and Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan acknowledged “a threat to the Jewish community center and the destroyers of Jewish cemeteries” before transitioning to a call for “a renewal American spirit.”
“In nine years, the United States will celebrate the 250th anniversary of our founding – 250 years since the day of its declaration of independence,” Trump said.

Starting with one of his first execution actions of the year, Trump signed the signing of “Celebrating America’s 250th Birthday,” which was “a grand celebration of the 250th anniversary of the U.S. independence on July 4, 2026.”
In 2017, Trump continued his first speech to the country on the Obama administration’s commitment to combat illegal immigration, implementing the first U.S. agenda and restoring the economy. However, there is clearly no mention of diversity equity inclusion (DEI) and “radical” gender ideology.
Presidential historian and former HHS secretary George W. Bush administration told Fox News numbers in an interview, “These are common topics when he speaks today and these topics have disappeared.” “These aren’t there. But, beyond that, there are a lot of similarities that I was reading at first and wondering if it could be given in this administration because there are a lot of the same things.”
“For example, he talks about the borders there, he talks about freeing the American economy,” Troy said. “So the theme is the same, but some of the situation has changed.”

While the speeches of the Joint Speech to Congress and ITU are usually well written in advance, Trump is known for his speeches with cuffs. Troy said Trump could hold an explosive Oval Office meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday.
“I can think of it as an impromptu moment, but it may not be in the writing of the speech,” he said.
Also, on Tuesday night, inflation will be in people’s minds.
“No one will blame Trump on Trump or Biden’s problems,” Troy said. “He was blamed on inflation at some point in danger. So he has to deal with it more carefully.”
Trump’s speech in 2017 did not include inflation, but he did mention restarting “the engine of the U.S. economy makes it easier for companies to do business in the U.S., and for companies, it’s more difficult to leave our country.”
