Despite Brown’s playful explanation of why she changed her name, there are rumors that it was a tribute to his father, Robert Brown. Robert, along with Brown’s mother, Kelly Brown, espouses his daughter’s career from childhood. Brown soared when he was 12 years old when he played 11 breakthrough roles in Netflix’s popular science fiction series Stranger Things.

“I started with this industry when I was 10,” Brown wrote in the caption of her post. “I grew up in front of the world and for some reason people can’t seem to grow with me. Instead, they act like I should be frozen in time, like I still should be like I did in Stranger Things Season 1. Because I didn’t, and I’m a goal right now.”
“It’s not journalism,” she added. “It’s bullying. Adult writers take the time to dissect my face, my body, my choices, and that’s disturbing facts. Some of these articles are facts written by women, and even worse.”
“Disillusioned people can’t stand seeing a girl become a woman in her conditions, not their woman,” Brown added. “I refuse to apologize for growing up.”

In an interview with Vanity Fair last month, Brown talked about why she and Bongoway decided to get married so early.
“We’re very united. We talked about our political views, the families we want to build, the kind of families we want to live in, the relationships we want, the career we want,” she said.
“It’s an important decision and we want to make sure we make the right decision. I know I’m. I always feel right about him.”
