Can Microsoft, Salesforce overcome challenges to AI growth?

Microsoft (MSFT) is driving the landscape of huge opportunities and regulatory challenges, especially in the evolving field of artificial intelligence (AI).

Brent Bracelin, an analyst at Piper Sandler Equity Research in Cloud Software and Analytics, joined Catalysts hosting Madison Mills and Seana Smith, and along with AI’s Salesforce (CRM) to provide his perspective on the company’s position.

“Obviously, Microsoft is seeing early advantages in AI and application layers,” Bracelin said. “You’re talking about a triple-digit growth for a $10 billion business.”

However, Bracelin noted that Microsoft’s efforts to limit the government’s regulations on AI adoption are crucial, as export rules may slow progress. Speaking about the impact of political uncertainty, he noted: “Microsoft has dropped 5% to 15% so far. Based on this morning’s sell-off, Salesforce has dropped 11% in the year here.”

But despite these concerns, latexin remains optimistic about the long-term outlook.

“In three quarters of the time, you’ll see the momentum of AI starting to build here and start driving the change in the growth trajectory of this business,” he added.
